French Dual Immersion Program


Dual Immersion is a blending of academic learning and language acquisition.   Areas of the core content, such as science, math and social studies are taught in the target language. The Davis District currently offers programs in Mandarin Chinese, French and Spanish.  In addition to the core content, students will receive instruction in reading and writing in the target language.  The dual immersion program in Davis District begins in 1st Grade in all languages.  Instruction in the target language takes place during half of the school day.

French Immersion Application TImeline

February-March - Applications accepted for students entering kindergarten in the fall.  Families in the program prior to 2018 received guaranteed enrollment for younger siblings.  Families entering the program in 2018 or later receive two lottery entries for siblings.

April - Applications processed and openings filled, parents notified.  Lottery drawing for those living in boundaries if more applicants than spots available.  Waiting list for those not selected in the initial lottery.

May-August - Waiting list students given slots as they open up.  Any remaining openings in August will be given to those living outside of school boundaries.
